Crescent Beach · Anastasia Island · St. Augustine, Florida

Local Guide

The beach across the street, the oldest city in America up the road, and everything worth doing in between.

Crescent Beach, four minutes on foot

Crescent Beach is Old Florida at its quietest: white sand, dune crossovers, and room to breathe on the southern end of Anastasia Island. From the front door it is a 4-minute walk to the sand. Butler Beach and its ramp are a 9-minute walk the other way.

Historic St. Augustine, 18 minutes up the island

About 18 minutes up A1A, the oldest city in America brings the Castillo de San Marcos, Flagler College, the shops of St. George Street, and the Night of Lights in season. The St. Augustine Lighthouse is right on Anastasia Island, on your way into town. Beach week and a walkable historic city in one stay: it is the trip guests fly in for, not just drive to.

Minutes from the house

Fort Matanzas National Monument and its free ferry, kayaking and fishing on the Matanzas River, the St. Augustine Alligator Farm, and some of the area's best seafood shacks along A1A are all a short drive. Anastasia State Park's four miles of protected beach are on the way downtown.

Good to know

Publix and local restaurants are minutes away by car. Bring bikes or rent them: the island is flat and the beach is firm enough to ride at low tide. Dogs on the beach are allowed on leash in St. Johns County, so the whole family really can come.
