A day downtown
Start at the Castillo de San Marcos, the oldest masonry fort in the continental United States. You cross the drawbridge over a dry moat to get in, see original iron and bronze cannons, and on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays you can catch cannon firing demonstrations. From there, walk St. George Street for its shops and restaurants.
In winter, St. Augustine's Nights of Lights display runs from November 21, 2026 to January 18, 2027, a good reason to plan a holiday week at the beach.
